Nairobi, Kenya

The opening of our foundation’s Kenya office in 2024 marked a pivotal milestone in our work within the country and reflected our deepened commitment to supporting meaningful change across East Africa and the continent as a whole. Our expanded presence in the region has also strengthened our ability to collaborate with local communities, governments, and partners to achieve greater impact. Since 1997, we have funded efforts in Kenya to create and disseminate tools and technologies that improve outcomes in agriculture, health, immunization, nutrition, sanitation, financial services, gender equality, and family planning, among other areas.

Our work in Kenya

We believe that an economy that includes everyone benefits everyone. In Kenya, we work with partners to support people in low-income communities in improving their livelihoods and lifting themselves out of poverty. Our efforts include expanding the use of digital financial services and payments and ensuring that these services meet the needs of low-income Kenyans and small and medium-sized enterprises; improving the agricultural productivity of smallholder farmers and helping them weather the effects of climate change; expanding access to family planning services and products; and improving economic opportunities for women.
