Ways to give
We believe in the power of people coming together to tackle the world’s toughest challenges. Groundbreaking change is possible only through collective generosity.
At the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we understand that choosing where and how to give is personal—each of us wants to have an impact on the issues important to us and the world.
Give directly to grantees of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
Our expert teams work with people and organizations around the world to explore new ideas, scale up proven solutions, and champion innovative initiatives. We are extremely proud of the work our grantees do to reduce inequities and transform lives.
If you’re considering donating to the areas Bill and Melinda have chosen to prioritize, think about giving directly to our wonderful grantee partners.

Give to Gates Philanthropy Partners
Bill and Melinda created Gates Philanthropy Partners to make it easy to give and support many of the same causes supported by the Gates Foundation. By giving to Gates Philanthropy Partners, you maximize the value of your gift by aligning it to Gates Foundation priorities. We work with you and Gates Foundation experts to expand and accelerate progress on must-solve problems globally. By giving alongside the foundation through Gates Philanthropy Partners, you receive a donation receipt and annual impact report. Above all, you join a community of donors committed to addressing must-solve problems.
Making a bequest or leaving a gift in your will
We make it easy for you to give with confidence through your estate and have the greatest impact possible. Gates Philanthropy Partners can accept gifts made in a will, revocable or irrevocable trust agreement, or any other manner of non-probate disposition. We suggest you consider giving directly to our incredible grantees as an alternative.
Gates Philanthropy Partners can accept and direct gifts because Gates Philanthropy Partners aligns gifts with programs supported by the foundation and it can efficiently absorb and distribute gifts of any size. There are no specific requirements or language needed to make a gift through bequest documents in your will other than properly identifying Gates Philanthropy Partners as the beneficiary.

May I bequest a gift to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in my will?
We hope you’ll make a gift to one of our grantees or to Gates Philanthropy Partners. We discourage individuals from giving directly to the foundation.
