Silvia von Loewis of Menar

Deputy Director, Innovative Product Introduction

Silvia von Loewis of Menar leads product introduction and market access efforts for the Maternal, Newborn, Child Nutrition & Health team to accelerate declines in maternal and newborn mortality rates. She is a business economist with over 16 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry across various commercial, partnership, and public-sector business roles focused on the Middle East and Africa.

Before joining the foundation in 2023, Silvia worked for Novartis, where she led public-sector commercial efforts and served as interim chief commercial officer for Novartis Sub-Saharan Africa. Earlier, at Novartis Social Business, she structured the tendering business for sub-Saharan Africa (with a focus on increasing patient reach in the public sector through supplies to governments, local nongovernmental organizations, and faith-based institutions) and led the acquisition and merger of an anti-invective portfolio for the region from another company.

Earlier, Silvia worked for a decade at Sandoz as a strategic planning leader in the commercial operations team for the Middle East and Africa. She focused on finance and tendering before leading supply chain efforts for North and West Africa and later key accounts for nongovernmental organizations. In the latter role, she was responsible for joint planning between the company and its strategic accounts to develop mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones and to achieve tendering excellence.

Silvia has a technical degree from the Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences in Germany.
