Frank Vahid leads a team that focuses on innovation in gateway STEM courses for college freshmen and sophomores, to support their academic success and improve educational outcomes.
Before joining the foundation in 2024, Frank was a professor of computer science and engineering at the University of California, Riverside, for three decades. He was also co-founder and chief learning officer of zyBooks (acquired by John Wiley & Sons in 2019), which creates web-native interactive learning content to replace college textbooks and homework, serving nearly 1 million students annually. He also founded and served as president of the nonprofit College Student Advocates.
