As the number of newborn deaths continues to drop, we need to focus on the babies who are still dying, understand why, and design interventions that reach them
in the right place and at the right time. This requires taking a closer look at the most vulnerable newborns—those whose parents are especially poor,
uneducated, or cut off from effective health care by civil unrest, geographic distance, or weak governance.
