Simon Brooker

Deputy Director, Neglected Tropical Diseases

Simon Brooker leads a team that works to advance the use of tools and delivery methods for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) to achieve broader global health goals.

Before joining the foundation in 2015, Simon was a professor of epidemiology and a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), where he conducted epidemiological, clinical trial, and operational research on a range of infectious diseases, including NTDs and malaria. Earlier, he held research appointments at Oxford University and Imperial College London.

Simon has worked extensively in Africa and Asia, including six years based at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme in Nairobi, Kenya. He has a doctorate in infectious disease epidemiology from Oxford, where he also earned his bachelor's degree, and has a master’s degree in health economics from City, University of London.
