Sarah Z. Buhayar
Sarah Z. Buhayar is a director in the Strategy Office, where she both leads the strategy team for Co-Chair Melinda French Gates, and advises teams across global policy & advocacy, operations, and finance on the development and execution of their strategies.
Prior to her current role, Sarah oversaw strategy, evaluation, operations, and finance for the Washington Education and Family Homelessness and national Early Learning strategies , as well as Measurement, Learning, and Evaluation for the national K-12 Education team. Sarah has been a grant maker in the areas of education research, teacher advocacy, and teacher development. She taught middle school math in Chicago Public Schools, and worked as a coach and curriculum manager with the Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL).
Sarah earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago, a master’s degree in teaching from National Louis University, and a master’s degree in business administration from the Kellogg School of Management.
