Alex Reid

Alex Reid leads communications for the foundation and is responsible for the strategic use of voice to amplify the foundation’s philanthropic role and impact. She oversees all communications work including reputation and risk management, region-specific communications, creative and brand strategies, leadership voice and employee communications.

Previously, Alex served as chief communications officer at Gates Ventures, where she set communications strategy for Bill Gates. She also spent nearly a decade working at the foundation from 2010-2019. During this time Alex expanded the foundation’s communications across Europe, oversaw program advocacy and communications strategy, and led high-profile campaigns, including Goalkeepers.

Alex was born and raised in London and attended the University of Nottingham, where she earned a B.A. in politics. She lives in Seattle with her husband, two daughters, and a very playful golden doodle dog.
