Global Development Special Initiatives

Special Initiative learning grants help us increase our understanding of potential new areas of giving. Based on what we discover through this work, we determine whether these areas become initiatives under our long-term programs.

Currently, our Global Development Program is exploring a new learning initiative in water, sanitation, and hygiene.

Unsafe water, sanitation, and hygiene are leading causes of avoidable death and disease, especially among children under age five. We are making limited and focused grants to help us understand if there are effective, sustainable, and practical opportunities for a longer term initiative in this area.
